People have been asking us what they can send us. So here’s a list of ideas of some things that we either can’t get in Cambodia or is hard for us to get here in our town.
Candy - We can buy quite a lot of snacks and candy here. We’ve seen Oreo’s, chocolate, various hard candies, Japanese Hello Pandas, Chips Ahoy!, and more. But we’ve been rationing our stash of Reesee’s Pieces. Fortunately, we can get peanut butter (Dave’s lifesaver) in Phnom Penh.
Random Seasoning Packets - Stuff like taco seasoning, gravy packets, and the like that has been sitting in your pantry for years and that you think you will probably never use.
Gatorade Power - This is one of Dave’s requests. The Oral Rehydration Salts that we have to drink if we’re sick with diarrhea are pretty nasty. Gatorade tastes much better and has all that electrolyte goodness too.
Acne Medication - We’re on the anti-malaria drug Doxy something or another. We don’t live in an area that is a particular risk for malaria, but I take the medication anyway because it’s the same drug that doctors in the States prescribe to clear acne. I am on this drug and I still get pimples! Some small tubes of on-the-spot treatment would be appreciated.
Ant Traps - Cambodians live in perfect harmony with ants. They’re everywhere, and I guess you can’t really do anything about it. It’s not uncommon to find ants in your rice or floating in the soup. Eating ants doesn’t bother me because we’ve already eaten the large, red ahn krangs! We can get cans of spray Raid and mosquito-killing, smoke coils here but we haven’t found any traps yet. It would be nice to set some traps down and not have to be bothered by the ants.
Clothing Catalogs - There are many tailors here who apparently are very good at copying designs. Only I don’t have any photos and designs to show them for examples. If you have any clothing catalogs (J. Crew, GAP, etc.), can you send them to me?
Light Cardigan or Jacket - I haven’t looked in Phnom Penh yet, but I haven’t been able to find a light, long-sleeve cardigan or jacket. Okay, I found a couple that looked very ugly and gaudy on me. I have a lot of short-sleeve shirts and quickly learned that covering up from the sun is much cooler. If you have a cardigan or jacket or a jersey skirt (just because I would love it) that you’re thinking about donating to Salvation Army or Goodwill, can you send it to me instead?
You probably think we’re crazy but we don’t need toilet paper. Please read here to find out what we actually use instead.
Anything else would be appreciated too!

OK, let me look for them. I probably have some light cardigan and jacket in my room. Love, AUNT
